Since their introduction in 1983, McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets have always stayed true to their original recipe. Lightly battered and seasoned chicken meat served up hot & fresh. If you thought it couldn’t get any better, just wait until Spicy Chicken Nuggets drop on September 16th!
Original Chicken McNuggets BACKGROUND:
- Originally offered at select locations back in 1981, a chicken supply chain issue delayed their Nationwide rollout until 1983.
- Their shapes DO have names: Bell, Boot, Ball and Bone!
- They’re truly made with 100% BONELESS WHITE MEAT CHICKEN.
New Spicy McNuggets FACTS:
- The breading has been reimagined and will now be a tempura-style coating with both cayenne and chili peppers.
- A new dipping sauce, the first since 2017, will also be introduced called Mighty Hot Sauce. It contains a blend of chilies, crushed red pepper and garlic.
- They have already been trialed in the US and Asia. Some Australian locations already have them on the menu permanently!
- They will only be around in select US locations for 4-weeks (September 16th – October 4th).
In a press release dated August 26, 2020, McDonald’s seemed to try and quell the nerves of folks that don’t care much for spicy foods (just look at all those spices in the photo of the sauce above!) They suggest dunking them in ranch dipping sauce to help curb the burn.
Spicy McNuggets do sound unique and I’ll definitely give them a whirl when they’re released. Honestly, I’m looking forward to the Chips Ahoy! McFlurry that will be rolled out on the same day. Cookie crumbles and caramel topping, anyone? More on that release later….
